Listing a home on the MLS exposes it to many more potential buyers across the nation and world. Sellers who try to sell their homes on their own aren’t able to garner this type of exposure. In addition, they tend to underprice their home because they underestimate the appreciating market (especially in a fast-moving market). Because of this, taking the first offer can be a big mistake–accepting the first offer often works out better for the buyers, not the sellers.
