2015 Summer Home Sales are Highest than Last Couple of Years!

What a sizzling summer! Despite a slowdown in the oil & gas industry, it seems that had almost zero impact on the number of homes sold this summer when compared to previous years.
2015 has set many records for home sales. February had the highest number of homes sold in that month’s history which seemed to set the trend for the rest of the year. June saw the total dollar volume of single-family properties reach over $1 Billion for the first time ever, an increase of 8 percent over the previous year.
This growth is attributed to a smaller inventory of single family homes in the area that are less expensive than other parts of the country. Meanwhile, Austin’s economy continues to grow at a steady pace as more families flock to the area due in part to: Texas having no personal state income tax, lower cost-of-living, high quality-of-life, low unemployment, a blossoming tech industry, a vibrant city culture, and great schools for starting families.

Other records include homes on market selling faster than other previous years as show in this graph:

This is largely in part due to the amount of competition between buyers who have the ability to outbid each other over asking prices and want to immediately make the transition to Austin as fast as possible.
