2014 Austin After-School Programs

It is great to be a kid this fall as children, tweens, and teens from Austin  have oodles of opportunities to explore their interests in a variety of after-school programs. Whether it is becoming a mad scientist and conjuring up a new invention, a performer in a hit musical who gets discovered by a top producer, or even a humanitarian who changes the world, there is something for everyone. Offers  innovative activities that complement a student’s regular academic lessons. This free program is available at several AISD campuses.


Austin Parks & Recreation

Several locations offering art, music, acting, athletics, and much more for ages 5-12.


Austin Sports Academy

Sitting still for class is easier when the promise of active fun is the reward to the day. Open for children in K-5th grade.


Bits, Bytes & Bots

Be geek chic by making robots, creating video games and more in this tech-savvy after-school camp.


Boys & Girls Clubs

Every child needs to belong, succeed, and be active in their community. Various locations for children up to age 18 are available.


Club Gen

Anything boys can do, girls can do, too. Club Gen empowers girls in grades 4th-8th to thrive in science, math and more.


Creative Action

The creative arts through music, visual art, acting, and creative writing are beneficial to a student’s overall learning. Creative Action puts all of these together in one after-school camp.


Crenshaw Athletic Club

Get the energy out and have fun with gymnastics, swimming, arts and crafts, computer games, athletic games, and field trips. Available for K-5th grades.


Dub Academy

High school students can find their beat by learning the art of DJing. Remixing, synthesizing and music theory is also covered.


Growin’ Together

This eclectic after-school program connects local artisans to 5-12 year olds to experience music, creating and running a business, carpentry, cooking, and movie-making.



Learning to code in today’s technological world is not only an asset, but fun as kids learn how to develop their own web apps, online games and more.
